2026 Tundra Rear Under-Seat Storage: Gas and Hybrid Differ
2026 U.S. Tundra Limited 4WD CrewMax, 5.5-ft bed: gas model 8372 and i-FORCE MAX Hybrid model 8421. Compare the named factory compartment, not overall cabin volume.
If the factory partitioned rear under-seat compartment is essential for your daily gear, keep the gas Limited on your Tundra shortlist. In a matched 2026 Limited 4WD CrewMax pair, Toyota lists that compartment as standard on gas and unavailable on i-FORCE MAX Hybrid. Both manuals describe rear cushions that can rise separately; cushion movement and the storage compartment are different equipment questions.

Gas Limited: rear compartment
Return cushions to close the box.
Limited Hybrid: separate console
Named under-seat compartment:
Not Available on Limited Hybrid 8421.
Separate console access
Keep console closed while driving.
Both powertrains: rear-center-seat condition
Raise cushions only stopped, on level ground, with the parking brake set and P selected.
The same CrewMax cab does not settle the storage question
Models 8372 and 8421 are both Limited 4WD CrewMax configurations with a 5.5-ft bed. That keeps the cab, bed and drive scope together while the powertrain changes.

Choose the compartment around the gear you carry
The gas manual says to raise the bottom cushions to open the storage box and return them to close it. The partition can be removed or moved. That gives you a specific layout to inspect for separate small items rather than treating every tip-up rear bench as equivalent storage.
The Hybrid still has documented console storage with a removable partition. It is a different place to organize small items, and the manual requires keeping that console closed while driving. If your routine depends specifically on the rear compartment, another storage location does not answer that requirement.
Bring the measurements of your usual tool case or bag and inspect the gas compartment with its partition in place and repositioned. Choose from that actual fit check; the equipment entries give no usable opening dimensions for your item.
Keep the passenger plan with the cushion position
For either powertrain, use the stopped, level-ground procedure with the parking brake set and transmission in P. Move the front seats clear, stow the rear armrest (if equipped on gas models) and seat-belt buckles, and use the belt hangers before raising a cushion until it locks. Do not raise it while driving.
Do not use the rear center seating position while the right cushion is raised: its buckle is concealed. To return a cushion, pull and release the strap, then lower the cushion with the other hand. Keep hands and feet clear, and check for twisted or trapped belts. No one may ride on the gas storage box or the Hybrid battery cover.
Choose the gas configuration when the documented partitioned rear compartment is a must-have. If considering Hybrid, make the different storage arrangement part of your decision before comparing other equipment.
