How Long Do Toyota Camrys Last?
Two hundred thousand miles is a normal Camry life, and a well-kept one goes further. Here is what the data says, why the Camry lasts, and the few habits that get a car there.
Quick answer
A Toyota Camry can reasonably be expected to last 200,000 miles or more with routine maintenance, and many go past 250,000. In iSeeCars' tenth annual Longest-Lasting Cars Study, built from odometer readings on more than 260 million vehicles, the Camry has a 20.4 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles, 2.4 times the 8.6 percent average for passenger cars and well above the 11.8 percent average for all vehicles. At 12,000 miles a year that is 15 to 20 years of driving.
What the data shows
iSeeCars ranks the Camry third among passenger cars for the share of examples likely to reach 250,000 miles. The study uses average odometer readings at each age to estimate how many cars of each model get that far. Only a handful of SUVs and trucks, most of them also Toyotas, rank higher overall.
Why the Camry lasts
Conservative engineering
Toyota has kept the Camry on proven engines and transmissions, updated gradually. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder and the hybrid system in today's car are developments of designs with hundreds of thousands of examples behind them.
The hybrid helps
Since 2025 every new Camry is a hybrid. The electric motor does the launching and much of the low-speed work, so the engine starts fewer times, idles less and runs in its efficient range. Toyota warrants the hybrid battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles.
Parts and service everywhere
A car that is cheap and easy to keep serviced gets serviced. Camry parts are plentiful and every Toyota dealer sees them daily.
How to get yours to 250,000
- Oil and filter every 10,000 miles or 12 months with 0W-20 synthetic, or every 5,000 under severe use such as short winter trips. Why synthetic.
- Tire rotation and inspection every 5,000 miles; the inspection catches brake, suspension and fluid problems while they are small.
- Coolant, transmission fluid and brake fluid at the intervals in the Warranty & Maintenance Guide, not when they look dirty.
- The 30,000-mile service items on schedule. What the Toyota 30,000-mile service covers.
- Fix small things early: a weeping gasket, a worn bushing, a slow leak in a tire.
- Keep it clean underneath after a salted winter; rust is what retires most Midwestern cars, not engines.
Buying a used Camry
Mileage matters less than history. A 120,000-mile Camry with records and a clean underside is a better buy than a 70,000-mile car that skipped oil changes. Ask for service records, check for rust on the subframe and rocker panels, and have the hybrid battery health checked on hybrid models. Certified pre-owned Camrys add Toyota's own inspection and warranty coverage.
The Camry today
The 2026 Camry comes in LE, SE, XLE, XSE and Nightshade grades, all hybrid, with 225 net horsepower (232 with all-wheel drive) and a manufacturer-estimated 51 mpg combined on the LE FWD. See the 2026 Camry.
Frequently asked questions
How many miles can a Toyota Camry last?
200,000 miles is routine with maintenance, and iSeeCars estimates a 20.4 percent chance of a Camry reaching 250,000 miles, well above the passenger-car average.
How many years does a Camry last?
At a typical 12,000 miles a year, 200,000 to 250,000 miles is 15 to 20 years.
Do Camry hybrids last as long as gas Camrys?
Yes, and the hybrid system reduces engine wear. Toyota covers the hybrid battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles.
