The Toyota hybrid battery warranty

Starting with the 2020 model year, Toyota raised its hybrid battery warranty from 8 years or 100,000 miles to 10 years from the date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. That covers the hybrid (HV) battery in a Toyota hybrid, subject to the terms of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

The other hybrid-related components, which Toyota lists as the HV battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter, are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Toyota notes the HV battery may have longer coverage under the emissions warranty, so check the Warranty & Maintenance Guide for your vehicle.

Warranty vs. ToyotaCare

They are different things. The warranty covers repairs under its terms. ToyotaCare is a no-cost maintenance plan with 24-hour Roadside Assistance that comes with every new Toyota. The warranty and the plan sit side by side.

ToyotaCare terms depend on your vehicle, so ask our service advisors which plan applies to yours, or see our Toyota Service Care page for coverage after ToyotaCare ends. Our maintenance schedules page lists the factory service intervals.

Where to find your VIN

Have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy for any warranty question. Toyota lists four places to find it:

  • Your insurance identification card
  • Your vehicle registration card
  • A metal plate on top of the dashboard, on the driver's side near the windshield
  • A label on the driver-side door jamb

Have it ready when you book, along with a short note of what you have noticed.
