2015 Toyota Avalon

Which is the Standout Sedan? The 2015 Toyota Avalon vs. 2015 Nissan Altima

Looking to make a choice between the 2015 Toyota Avalon and the 2015 Nissan Altima? Both sedans offer excellent features, but one vehicle outshines the other in a variety of important areas. Keep reading to see which vehicle brings you a remarkable experience on the road.

Safety and Warranty

The Toyota Avalon features daytime running lights to keep your vehicle more visible under all conditions. Studies have shown that lights during the day reduces accidents by 11%. The Altima Sedan doesn't offer Daytime Running Lights.

The Avalon Limited model also has standard Safety Connect, a GPS receiver, which tracks down your vehicle if it's stolen or if any airbags deploy. The Altima Sedan lacks a GPS response system.

When it comes to warranties, Toyota offers the upper hand and will cover scheduled maintenance on the Avalon for 2 years or 25,000 miles. With Nissan, you will pay for every oil change, tire rotation, and any other necessary maintenance services. Plus, with over 11% more Toyota dealers than Nissan dealers, scheduling service under the Avalon's warrant is easy.

Engine and Towing

The Avalon has a 3.5L DOHC V6 engine that roars with 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. The Altima has a 2.5L DOHC 5-cylinder engine with 182 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque.

Motor Trend put the Toyota Avalon to the test and found it to go from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds-that is 1.5 seconds faster than the Altima Sedan.

Passenger and Cargo Space

The Avalon is roomy and comfortable with 1.1 inches more front hip room, 1.8 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom, 3.1 inches more rear legroom, 2.5 inches more rear hip room and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Altima.

The Avalon also has the advantage of a larger 16 cubic foot trunk than the Altima Sedan, which has 15.4 cubic feet of trunk space. For complete use of the available cargo room, the Avalon's trunk lid has hidden beam hinges that don't intrude on trunk space.

The standard outside mirrors on the 2015 Avalon are equipped with heating elements, which make it easier to clear them off during snowy and cold weather. To have heated mirrors with the Altima, you would have to upgrade to a higher trim level.

The Avalon is also outfitted with standard heated front seats and optional heated rear seats for maximum passenger comfort. To have heated front seats with the Altima, you would once again have to upgrade. The Altima doesn't even offer heated rear seats.
