The Corolla is now equipped with a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that makes 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. All Corolla models get the same engine, but the fuel efficient Corolla Eco model actually makes more power: 140 hp and 126 lb-ft of torque. All models of the Corolla get impressive fuel economy estimates:

• The base Corolla is rated at an impressive 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway/31 mpg when equipped with a four-speed automatic.
• The Corolla with six-speed manual is rated at 28 mpg city/37 mpg highway/31 mpg combined.
• When equipped with a continuously variable transmission, the Corolla is rated at 29 mpg city/38 mpg highway/32 mpg combined.
• Finally the Eco model is rated at up to 30 mpg city/42 mpg highway/35 mpg combined.
