The World Green Car Award
The World Green Car award was created to honor champions of eco-friendly technology across the globe. An international panel of judges carefully examined each of the dozen vehicles that qualified for this achievement. Not only were factors like tailpipe emissions and fuel consumption considered, but the brand's commitment to environmental responsibility also played a large role in the decision process. In the end, the Toyota Prius Prime was chosen as the top competitor of the year.
While this would be a major achievement for any company, this marks the second consecutive year that Toyota has produced the winning vehicle. Last year, the Toyota Mirai secured the top spot. Other Toyota vehicles, like the 2009 Toyota iQ and 2006 Toyota Harrier Hybrid, also achieved the honor of "Top Three in the World" in their respective years.
The Prius Prime
Toyota's Prius Prime is a unique vehicle that combines the best qualities from different forms of alternative energy. The result is a plug-in hybrid that represents the more advanced green technology around. It's the most efficient vehicle in its class, reaching an EPA-estimated driving range of 640 miles and 54 combined mpg. Additionally, many customers qualify for up to $4,500 in Federal Tax Credits, which shows that it pays to be a green driver!
