Toyota Corolla Maintenance Schedule
What Toyota's 2027 Corolla Maintenance Guide lists at each mileage, from the 5,000-mile visit to spark plugs and coolant, read November 4, 2026. If your Corolla comes to our Streamwood service drive on W. Lake St., this is what Toyota lists for each visit.

What is the Toyota Corolla maintenance schedule?
Toyota's 2027 Corolla Maintenance Guide recommends scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. Every visit includes a tire rotation and fluid, brake, wiper and floor mat checks; the engine oil and filter are replaced every 10,000 miles; chassis inspections are added every 15,000 miles; and the cabin and engine air filters are replaced every 30,000 miles. Engine coolant is first replaced at 100,000 miles and spark plugs at 120,000 miles.

From the maintenance charts (printed pages 11-20, 5,000 to 150,000 miles) of Toyota's 2027 Corolla Maintenance Guide, read November 4, 2026. Each later visit also includes the items of the shorter intervals that fall on it. In Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Saipan only, the charts also list adding EFI tank additive at every 5,000-mile visit.
Miles or months: which comes first
Toyota recommends scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. The guide gives two examples: if you drive 5,000 miles in less than six months, get maintenance at 5,000 miles; if at six months you have driven less than 5,000 miles, get maintenance at six months.
For low-mileage drivers, the guide suggests marking your calendar to get maintenance every six months. It also says to check the engine oil level once a month, and to see the "Maintenance" section of your owner's manual for the ongoing fluid checks and visual inspections between visits. For the oil grade and viscosity, the guide points to the owner's manual.
Special operating conditions
The charts add these services only if most of your driving is done under the conditions shown. If you only occasionally drive this way, the guide says the extra services are not necessary.
Dirt or dusty roads
Every 5,000 miles or 6 months: replace the engine oil and filter; inspect the engine air filter (replace it every 30,000 miles), ball joints and dust covers, drive shaft boots, and steering linkage and boots; and torque the nuts and bolts on the chassis and body.
Towing, car-top carrier or heavy loading
Every 5,000 miles or 6 months: replace the engine oil and filter and torque the chassis and body nuts and bolts. The charts also list the automatic transmission fluid for inspection at 30,000, 90,000 and 150,000 miles and for replacement at 120,000 miles; the 60,000-mile chart lists a replacement entry labeled "Automatic Transmission Coolant". The guide notes that not all vehicles are designed for towing; see your owner's manual.
Extensive idling or long low-speed driving
For uses such as police, taxi or door-to-door delivery: replace the engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles or 6 months, with the same automatic transmission fluid entries as towing.
Short trips below freezing
Repeated trips of less than five miles in temperatures below freezing (32°F): replace the engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles or 6 months. The guide says this applies regardless of the oil used.
From the Special Operating Conditions charts and the "Engine Oil and Oil Filter" explanation in Toyota's 2027 Corolla Maintenance Guide, read November 4, 2026.
Records, providers and your warranty
The guide says maintaining your vehicle according to its recommendations is required to keep your warranty coverage intact, and to keep detailed records: the date of service, the mileage and a description of the work. Toyota will not deny a warranty claim solely because you do not have records, but damage or failure caused by lack of proper maintenance is not covered.
Maintenance may be done by you or by any automotive service provider you choose, and Toyota will not deny a warranty claim solely because a provider other than a Toyota dealership did the work. A dealer may recommend more frequent intervals or more services than the chart lists; the guide says those additional services are not required to maintain warranty coverage, and to ask your dealer to explain any recommended maintenance not in the chart.

Toyota Corolla maintenance FAQ
How often does a Toyota Corolla need maintenance?
Toyota's 2027 Corolla Maintenance Guide recommends scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. If you drive 5,000 miles in less than six months, go at 5,000 miles; if you have driven less than 5,000 miles at six months, go at six months.
How often should a Corolla get an oil change?
The 2027 Corolla maintenance charts list replacing the engine oil and oil filter at 10,000 miles/12 months, 20,000 miles/24 months, 30,000 miles/36 months and every 10,000 miles after that. If you drive mainly on dirt or dusty roads, tow a trailer or use a car-top carrier or heavy loading, idle a lot or drive long distances at low speed, or make repeated trips of less than five miles in temperatures below freezing, the guide says to replace the oil and filter every 5,000 miles or six months.
When does a Corolla need new spark plugs?
The 2027 Corolla charts list replacing the spark plugs at 120,000 miles/144 months. The guide notes that spark plug maintenance is required under the terms of the Emission Control Warranty.
When should Corolla coolant be changed?
The guide lists the first engine coolant replacement at 100,000 miles/120 months, then every 50,000 miles/60 months after that. Between replacements, the coolant level and condition are inspected as part of the all-fluid-levels check every 5,000 miles.
What is done at the Corolla 30,000-mile service?
At 30,000 miles/36 months the 2027 Corolla chart lists the 5,000-mile items (tire rotation, fluid levels, brake, wiper and floor mat checks), an engine oil and filter change, the 15,000-mile inspections, and adds replacing the cabin air filter and engine air filter and inspecting the automatic transmission fluid, the fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and vapor vent hoses, and the fuel tank cap gasket. Brake thickness and disc runout are also inspected every 30,000 miles.
Do I have to service my Corolla at a dealer to keep the warranty?
No. The guide says maintenance may be performed by you or by any automotive service provider you choose, and Toyota will not deny a warranty claim solely because you used a provider other than a Toyota dealership. Damage or failure caused by improper maintenance is not covered, so Toyota says to keep detailed records of each service.
