When you compare the 2016 Toyota Corolla to the 2016 Dodge Dart, you notice a few sharp differences between these two models. While both are popular in the sedan segment, we think that the Corolla has a few advantages that place it ahead of the Dart. Come to Elgin Toyota to try a 2016 Corolla today. Let an expert help you find a model you'll love!

Performance and Fuel Economy

Consumer Reports tested the 2016 Corolla to the 2016 Dart engine. The Corolla goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 9.9 seconds. In that same test, the Dart takes 11 seconds to go from 0 to 60. In a quarter mile, the Corolla reaches 82.9 mph; meanwhile, the Dart hits 80.3 mph.

Not only is the Corolla faster, but it also has better fuel economy with its 1.8L engine. When configured with a manual transmission, the engine delivers 28 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The Corolla Eco pairs the same engine with Continuously Variable Transmission to produce 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway.

The SE/Manual trim for the Dart receives only 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The Aero/Auto model receives 28 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. The Dart just can't compare to the efficient performance of the Corolla.

Space

The Corolla has more room than the Dart with a whopping 6.2 extra inches of rear legroom, plus the convenience of folding rear seats. The Dart SE/Aero trim unfortunately doesn't have flexible seating in the back, so you have to choose between passenger and cargo space. The Corolla is more spacious and versatile overall.

Warranty

The 2016 Corolla comes with a five year corrosion warranty with no restriction on mileage. The Dart also has a five year corrosion warranty, but it tops off at 100,000 miles. Additionally, a Corolla is worth the investment because Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles. You have to pay more for the first few years of oil changes and other maintenance work on the Dart.

Economic Advantages

Typically, car owners resell their vehicles after three or five years. If you want to be safe about your new investment, then we recommend the Corolla because of its high resale value.

  • After three years, the Corolla hangs to its value from 53 to 59 percent compared to the Dart's 37 to 48 percent.

  • After five years, the Corolla has 43 to 47 percent instead of the Dart's 29 to 36 percent.
