Here at Elgin Toyota Scion we like to stay up to date, and thusly report, the latest Toyota news right here on our Toyota blog.

And, while often said news will be concerning new Toyota models, Toyota parts and the like, sometimes it's actually about something a little different.

Well, today is one of those days as we at Elgin Toyota Scion are reporting on a brand-new technology just announced by the Toyota brand that is unlike any before it: a Pre-collision System (PCS).

Designed with the intention to keep pedestrians, drivers and other susceptible road users safe, Toyota's new PCS combines Pedestrian avoidance Steer Assist which allows the vehicle to absorb some of the responsibility that goes along with collision evasion.

More specifically, Toyota PCS with Pedestrian-avoidance Steer Assist combines some pretty exceptional next-generation elements such as visual and audible dashboard alerts, automatic braking techniques, onboard sensors and more to help drivers keep themselves and others as safe as possible, every minute.

So, will the new Toyota PCS be effective?

Actually, the proof is in the pudding: and in Japan were the system is already integrated into many new Toyota models, traffic fatalities have decreased every year, for the last 12 in a row.

Toyota is hoping to roll out a version of its new PCS in production vehicles as soon as the 2015 model year.
