Performance
The upcoming Highlander will have a 3.5L V6 engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine will deliver the force of 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque. Since the previous model, the Highlander's power has increased by 25 hp and 15 lb-ft of torque. Plus, it can now tow up to 5,000 pounds! We can also expect to see the Highlander Hybrid with V6 capability, but those models will have a net total of 306 hp with the extra electric motor assistance. Hybrid models come with an Electronic on demand All-Wheel Drive system. Finally, the LE trims will have a 2.7L engine with front-wheel drive. This combination will deliver 185 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Efficiency
The new Highlander V6 models will come with Stop and Start engine system. Essentially the system works by tricking the vehicle into thinking it’s off when you initiate the brake. The second that you release your foot from the brake, the engine will turn on once again. As far as fuel economy numbers, we know that the Hybrid is the most efficient Highlander, as it has an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Standard LE Features
There is an abundance of inclusions on the LE trim. It gains great height from 18-inch alloy wheels. A backup camera will help you see while reversing and parking. When you select the optional V6 engine, you will enjoy a standard towing package. For your convenience in winter, the exterior mirrors are heated and the windshield wipers have a de-icer system to fight the frost. The cabin will seat up to eight passengers, and you can use the spacious cabin creatively with the versatile 60/40 splitting seats in the second and third rows. Bluetooth and an Entune Audio system are also standard.
