Standard Toyota Sienna safety features have just upped the ante! With a lengthy list of protective and interventional technology, including Toyota Safety Sense P, the 2018 Sienna provides a protective shield that puts families on guard.
Toyota Safety Sense P
Previously only available as an upgrade, Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) is now standard on every trim level. TSS-P active safety features significantly enhance the Sienna’s safety capabilities with:
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection - This innovation senses an impending collision and alerts you so you can act. It can even apply the brakes for you.
- Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist - A windshield-based camera watches to see if you’re drifting out of your lane and gives you a warning sound.
- Automatic High Beams - Nighttime driving is much easier with the camera that looks at headlights and taillights of the cars in front of you and automatically switches your lights between high beams and low beams.
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control - This intelligent cruise control system adjusts your speed based on the speed and distance of the car in front of you, so you’re covered if something unexpected happens.
Segment-Leading Safety
It’s noteworthy that the Sienna is the only minivan in the segment that comes with Standard Active Braking, which means that it’s the only family minivan that is going to do more than just warn you if you’re about to hit a pedestrian or another car. The system gives you time to respond, but if you don’t, then it hits the brakes hard enough to reduce your speed by about 25 MPH.
High Standards
The 2018 standard Toyota Sienna safety features also include the Toyota Star Safety System. This bundle includes helpful braking technology like Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Brake Assist, and Antilock Brakes. Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control help keep the Sienna rooted and stable in all kinds of conditions. And, if you accidentally step on the brake and accelerator at the same time, Smart Stop Technology automatically stops the Sienna.
