Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), Inc. recently announced that its Toyota division sold 127,476 vehicles in January of 2017, with customers continuing to exhibit strong demand for the company's lineup of SUVs.
Highlander posted best-ever January sales, improving 12 percent over January 2016, while RAV4 also had its best-ever January as 22,155 vehicles sold represented a 2.8 percent increase. With 4Runner sales growing 16 percent, Toyota SUVs as a group saw sales increase 8 percent for the month. Toyota Certified Used Vehicles also realized a best-ever January performance, and have now seen 17 consecutive best-ever sales months.
In a release, Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division, said, "Coming off a record December and year in 2016, the industry in January took a bit of a pause with volume down slightly vs. a year ago. Much improved Light Truck availability helped RAV4 and Highlander begin the year with record January sales.”
