The holiday season is upon us! Time to pack up your vehicle and visit far-away friends and family. The traffic and the weather can be unpredictable this time of year, making these happy gatherings a source of stress for those traveling long distances. Beat the stress with these simple tips.

  • Be prepared. Pack a few items to be ready for bad weather, just in case. Blankets will keep you warm if you have a breakdown, kitty litter will provide traction if you get stuck in the snow, and antifreeze will keep your windows clean and clear if conditions are icy.
  • Be strategic. If possible, avoid times and areas known for heavy traffic. Leave early for easier driving, and give yourself plenty of time so you are not rushed if weather or traffic causes delays.
  • Be careful. Remember in driver's ed when they told you to assume you're the only good driver on the road? That goes double for the holidays. There's a lot of folks out there in a big hurry--look out for them and don't be one of them!
All of us at Elgin Toyota in Streamwood wish you a safe and happy holiday season!
